Evah Pirazzi strings are Pirastro's most popular strings, especially among orchestral violinists. These strings are also suitable for solo playing due to the powerful lower two strings and the particularly responsive E string. Refining design principles and showcasing a new material
The recent emergence of platinum as a usable material in string manufacture has brought its acoustic properties to the attention of players seeking what Pirastro technical director Adrian Müller calls ‘an extremely stable sound’. A platinum-coated violin E string is the newest addition to the German maker’s Evah Pirazzi range and, as Müller explains, working with the metal presented an opportunity to refine a number of other design features, too.
‘The problem with very heavy metals such as gold and platinum,’ he says, ‘is that their high density means strings
made from them are often slow to speak. To counter this, we altered the microstructure of the chrome steel core, improving the response time and reducing whistling, as well as minimising any harshness from the steel. We wanted a warm, refined tone but one that kept its strength and brilliance.’
Platinum coatings (like those made of gold) typically have very smooth surfaces – something which can make effective
bow contact difficult, further delaying the string’s response. ‘The surface of our Platinum E string has been engineered
specifically to create a little more friction with the hair of the bow and therefore project more quickly and more easily.
The finish is matt and almost bluish, quite unlike the high shine of normal carbon-steel and silver strings.’
Although Pirastro developed the string with a diameter of 0.267mm, reflecting a preference among some players for the extra power that comes with additional thickness, a 0.26mm version with a correspondingly lower tension is also available. It is also the maker’s first product to feature a removable ball end, allowing dealers to stock only one model suitable for both kinds of fine tuner.

I use Evah Pirazzi for 3 years now and they are the best strings I tried. Maybe the only thing that isn't perfect is that the sound is way to bright and to pure at the beginning. But after 2 of 3 days of hard pratice, the sound is amazing: deep, round and rich. I don't agree with what people said before. Evah Pirrazi strings don't deteriorate more than other strings. Of course, they're not the longest lasting strings, but they do a excellent job. Don't hesitate because of the price, the quality worth it.

The Evah Pirazzi strings from pirastro sets the standard for synthetic violin strings, being one of the first to be marketed. It works well on many different types of violins since it is pretty decent, predictable and gives a middle of the road tone. When it is new, there is a slight metallic feel, but that goes away after it is stretched out. Some people like the metallic feel and insist on new Evah Pirazzi They do take a few days to settle in though and last about 2-3 months.
They feel supple under the finger and are not high tension strings. They start out on the bright side with good overtones but then they go dull. The E string is just ordinary, and many people substitute a different E string (such as Pirastro Gold or Evah Pirazzi Gold).

These Evah Pirazzi strings are certainly worth spending a little extra on. They provide a warm tone and project a large sound especially in the first month or so of use. The sound does dull quite considerably as they become older but even after this has happened they are still relatively loud. They last as well as any other similarly priced string. Do not be alarmed if they sound rather tinny/metallic in the first few days of use - their sound soon warms up and becomes more pleasing after they have been broken in. High quality strings for intermediate and advanced use.

These strings have a great powerful sound. They dont have the richness of gut-core as expected but still have a good tone. They are very loud strings - so ideal for trad when competing(!) against box players, and would suit a soloist who needs the projection.
However, they dont suit all instruments. As pirastro themselves say this is a higher tension set and they didnt work well on my 1890 french violin - stifling the sound a little.
I have always found the Oliv E tended to produce additional squeaks and artifacts, and again the Evah gold-E is very similar. The Passione silvery E might well work better with this set if you find the gold-E a little too bright/squeaky.

I found the Laubach Srings Shop website very easy to use and the price for the full set of Violin strings I needed was the cheapest from my Google search. The warmest kind of strings I have ever tried.
It instantly brought back life into my old Italian violin and I simply can not imagine ever going back to cheap violin strings. You simply get what you pay for and it's certainly worth it.
The strings came in a nice hard cardboard box with free presents. I am going to order again soon.

Evah Pirazzi strings produce a good, somewhat bright sound on my violin - suitable for section or solo work. They're stable to pitch and break in fairly quickly. However, they're too expensive for what you get. Many other strings play just as well for far less money.

This set has become my most favourite strings ever! It plays very easily! It provides wide range of dinamics, very rich in colors, easy response, it helps me "dig-in" into the core of the sound easily without any resistance. It projects easily without losing the singing quality. Powerful yet very elegant. highly recommended esp for soloists!
